Understand first. Then do the math.

So far I’ve helped more than 50 families and arranged more than ₱50M in life insurance coverage: for young professionals, business owners, breadwinners, and the person in the household everyone else quietly depends on.

The pattern I run into most often isn’t people who bought nothing. It’s people who bought something, years ago, from someone they trusted, and were never told what it was for. They’re paying every month. They just can’t say what it would do if the worst happened, and nobody has ever offered to show them. That conversation usually takes twenty minutes and a piece of paper, and it should have happened at the point of sale.

So that’s the conversation I try to have first. Not a product, not an illustration: the numbers. What comes in, what goes out, who depends on it, and how long that dependency lasts. Once those are on the table, the recommendation tends to make itself, and quite often the honest recommendation is to do less than you were expecting to.

Three commitments

  1. The number comes before the product.

No plan goes in front of you until we agree what you’re solving for. A recommendation with no figure behind it is just a preference dressed up as advice.

  2. You’ll see the maths, not just the answer.

Every figure traces back to an assumption you approved. Disagree with one and we change it, and the number moves. That’s the whole point.

  3. “Not now” is a complete answer.

Sometimes the honest advice is to clear a debt first, or just wait. If so, I’ll say it, and you’ll hear nothing more from me unless you ask.

I am tied, and I say so

I’m an Assistant Unit Manager with Pru Life UK, so the plans I can arrange are theirs. I would rather say that at the start than have you find it out at the end.

The arithmetic on this site is carrier-neutral. Take your number to anyone you like and compare. And ask any advisor, including me, how they are paid and whether a recommendation pays them more than the alternative. It is a fair question, and it should get a plain answer.

Half an hour, nothing sold

Bring your situation; I bring the arithmetic. You leave with your figure, your gap, and the comparison in writing.
